During one of my early morning drives through the South Dakota Black Hills I noticed this little group of trees, quickly I captured this image as the sun lit the tree bark so nicely on this crisp Autumn morning in 2020.

Woodland Path

Foggy days are a special treat in the Black Hills of South Dakota, so I decided a hike in the forest would undoubtedly be both awesome and rewarding during this cool Autumn evening! The fog added a sense of mystery during my ramble which was both invigorating and relaxing to say the least.

Golden Tranquility

They say the early bird catches the worm, in my opinion the early bird catches the most extraordinary light. Evening light can be nice too however, in my experience the best light is at daybreak. This Autumnal image is from Rapid City South Dakota at Canyon Lake Park in the Black Hills.

Beautiful Autumn color hugs the trail along Iron Creek in the South Dakota Black Hills. This image was captured on the first day of October, the transition between Summer and Fall happens so fast and ends all too soon.

Autumnal Beauty

At the end of October, this nice lake nestled within the Black Hills area of Hot Springs South Dakota did not fail to disappoint me. It was an overcast day and I was fascinated with how this group of trees stood out against the evergreens, what a pretty and peaceful spot!

Peak of Fall

Over the past few Autumn seasons I have been stopping by Bear Butte lake in the South Dakota Black Hills just hoping for Fall color, calm water, and a little bit of sunlight flirting with the distant peak to coincide with each other. This time, although the air was quite hazy my patience was rewarded and I captured this nice Autumnal image. Notice my title, do you see what I did there?

Autumn Transition

At the end of September, Spearfish Canyon in the South Dakota Black Hills brings a beautiful transition from Summer to Fall! Spearfish Falls is definitely a sight to behold during the Autumnal season when the greens turn gold enhanced by a small splash of red here and there.

Hello Autumn

Only days before the Autumnal equinox, I was chasing the fog through Custer State Park in the South Dakota Black Hills. As I came around a corner, suddenly my attention was captured by this beautiful view of the sunrise peeking over the fog, through the trees and tall prairie grass!
