Frozen Lake

Winter lasts well into Spring here in the South Dakota Black Hills. In this photograph it's the end of March, although thawing has begun someone is taking a nice little walk across the still frozen Bear Butte Lake.

Eastbound

Weather permitting, I always look forward to driving towards a stunningly beautiful South Dakota sunrise in mid Winter.

It was a brisk December morning as I was admiring the view behind this frost covered tree somewhere off Skyline Drive in the Black Hills, Rapid City South Dakota.

While in Spearfish Canyon I came across this beautiful wintry lacework created by ice alongside the fast moving Spearfish Creek.

It was a special treat for me to find this gorgeous texture filled shot of Black Elk Peak and the surrounding forest blanketed in Winter frost and snow during a crisp sunrise in the South Dakota Black Hills.

What a treat to find shore ice alongside this splendid frozen lake in the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota.

A fresh Springtime snow during the off season made it possible for me to capture this image of Keystone near Mt Rushmore in the South Dakota Black Hills.

Twilight at Canyon Lake Park in Rapid City was so special this evening with the snow and Christmas lights, so I used a slightly longer exposure to create a more dreamy effect.

Another shot of the sunset on ice. l almost missed the sunset but arrived just in time to find plenty of shore ice alongside this splendid frozen lake which gave me an excellent foreground.
